A History of FAANS |
|
The Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools (FAANS) was organized in 1971 as a meeting place for nonpublic school associations in Florida. It soon developed into a forum where the many community, economic, and political factors impacting nonpublic schools could be discussed and studied and where common consensus could be developed in dealing with these issues. Early founding organizations include the Florida Catholic Conference, the Florida Council of Independent Schools, the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, Christian Schools of Florida, and the Association of Independent Schools of Florida.
From those early beginnings, FAANS has developed into the major voice for nonpublic elementary and secondary education in Florida, serving as an umbrella association for 23 different nonpublic school organizations, including 13 nonpublic school accrediting associations, and the welfare of over 280,000 children.
FAANS is the state arm of the Council for American Private Education (CAPE) in Washington D.C., giving FAANS a voice in national and regional issues. |
