The typical FAANS association conducts annual workshops and/or conventions. These provide valuable in-service training and orientation for teachers, administrators, governing trustees or school boards, or ownership. In addition administrators and faculty members form evaluating teams to visit member schools and compare their programs with established standards. Reports from these evaluations provide an important form of quality control.

Each FAANS association maintains its own standard of faculty proficiency. Some use certification standards set by the State Department of Education, while others establish their own criteria. Some parochial associations require religious backgrounds in keeping with their philosophies.

Salary schedules are set within each association or school. Most salary schedules are comparable to those in public schools, though some may be adjusted for small classes or other factors.

In general, private associations and their member schools are minimally affected by educational factors addressed by the Florida Legislature or by the Department of Education.
