Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools

The Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools is a voluntary association of nonpublic school accrediting agencies and other nonpublic school organizations. Its membership represents all of the major nonpublic school faith-based and non sectarian accrediting associations in Florida and thus encompasses the majority of the nonpublic schools in the state.

FAANS serves as a vital link between nonpublic schools and the Florida Legislature, the Florida Department of Education, and provides information for the many inquiries from parents, the media, national school organizations, and government agencies for information related to nonpublic school education in Florida.

This is an opportunity you do not want to miss!!

Great opportunity for all CSF/FAANS schools to upgrade their acceptable use tech policies

Occasionally a great opportunity comes along for our member schools. Heres one for all FAANS member schools. It will take place in early June, so do not delay notifying your schools. READ THE ATTACHED DESCRIPTIVE PIECE AND SEND IT TO YOUR SCHOOLS.

FAANS co-sponsors June Handbook Review Series for acceptable tech usage policy review

The Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools will co-sponsor withThe Association of Boarding Schools (TABS), United Educators Insurance, and the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS) theJune Handbook Review Series presented byCampus Outreach Services, which has been hosting the June Handbook Review Series for the past threeyears.

This is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY for professional development for administrators and faculty members. There will be FOUR 90-MINUTE ONLINE SEMINARS covering topics such as Acceptable Use Policy updates, recent court cases dealing with technology in schools, legal implications for technology policies, bandwidth issues, campus security, data security (record retention, etc.), parent and student communications (both emergency and routine), open source solutions for virtual classrooms, and more.

In exchange for being a co-sponsor and for placing an ad for the seminars on our FAANS web site to the Handbook Review Series, all FAANS member schools may access for FREE one of the four seminar being conducted of their choice. If a school wishes to access MORE than one seminar, then there is a cost involved. The attached piece contains a description of the seminars and the cost involved per school for more than one seminar. In looking at the offerings this year, IN MY OPINION many schools will want to spend the funds to have their tech people access ALL of the seminars offered.

The programs are designed to assist with updating AUPs, handbooks, procedures, disciplinary stances, and educational programs. The sessions are broadcast on June 5, 7, 12, and 14 from 1-2:30pm EST. FAANS member schools can register for one live session of their choosing at no cost. The seminar panelists include Michelle Laubin, Partner at Berchem, Moses, & Devlin; Adam Kenner, IT Director at Horace Mann School; Nancy Willard, Director of the Center for Response Internet Use; Patrick Andriano, Associate at Reed Smith; and Katie Koestner, Executive Director of Campus Outreach Services. If you have any questions about registration, please e-mail Jaime Perez at jaime@campusoutreachservices.com and mention your membership with FAANS.
